Located 424 kilometres north of Perth is the bustling coastal town of Geraldton.

Blessed with beautiful beaches and warm, sunny weather, Geraldton provides a smorgasbord of water based recreational and sporting activities, with special emphasis on yachting, surfing and diving. The town is also world renowned as a Mecca for windsurfers. It is also a major export centre for far flung pastoral, mining, agricultural, manufacturing, construction and fishing industries.

Western Australian Museum - Geraldton Overlooking the stunning Batavia Coast Marina the Western Australian Museum – Geraldton tells the story of the Mid West region and the incredible maritime history of the Dutch shipwrecks that landed on this part of the treacherous Western Australian coast.

    1. Bill Sewell Complex The magnificent Bill Sewell Complex was originally built in 1884 as the Victoria District Hospital. This hospital served the region as both a hospital and nurses training school until 1966 when the new Geraldton Regional Hospital was built.
    2. Cathedral of The Holy Cross This cathedral was built in the same modern architecture as Coventry Cathedral in England. It has one of the largest areas of stained glass in Australia and is the focal point of the vast Anglican Diocese of North West Australia, which covers an area of one million square kilometres.
    3. Chapman Valley Scenic drives through fields of spring time wildflowers and picturesque farmland makes Chapman Valley a popular destination for self drive adventure.
    4. HMAS Sydney Memorial Geraldton For a moving tribute to the sailors who lost their lives on HMAS Sydney during World War II visit the HMAS Sydney Memorial in Geraldton.
    5. Old Geraldton Gaol Craft Centre Practising crafts people visit the historic old prison built in 1858. Watch crafts people at work, purchase your locally made souvenirs and gifts.
    6. Point Moore Lighthouse The red and white candy stripes of Point Moore Lighthouse are a spectacular sight that stands out proudly amidst the Geraldton landscape. Standing 34 metres high it was the first all steel tower built on the mainland of Australia, back in 1878. With its bold colours, the lighthouse has become an icon of the port town of Geraldton.
    7. Separation Point Lookout The lookout provides views south of Southgate Dunes and overlooking Grey's Beach and Mahomets Beach.
    8. Sir John Forrest Memorial A memorial to the great Western Australian statesman and explorer, Sir John Forrest, who set out from Geraldton to travel overland to Adelaide in 1874.
    9. St Francis Xavier Cathedral St Francis Xavier Cathedral is a spectacular church in the centre of Geraldton that you will find as magnificent on the inside as it looks from the outside. Designed by the parish priest John Hawkes, it took 22 years to build.
    10. The Hermitage This house, opposite the St. John of God Hospital in Cathedral Avenue, was built as a retirement house for Monsignor John Hawes.

    1. Geraldton Port Geraldton Port is one of the few ports where you are able to get a close look at all of the bustling activities that take place. Geraldton Port is one of Australia's busiest regional ports and Australia’s second largest for grain export. You will be able to see a variety of different size carriers arriving and departing. Witness grain and iron ore being loaded onto these enormous vessels.
